We all know that Guru died recently, what a lot of people don't realise yet is what a scoundrel his business partner 'Solar' has been throughout his life and death. For those interested check out this website detailing all the shenanigans associated with this self proclaimed 'super producer' (really?).

midnight Sushi Club 05 - Funk Yeah! Turquoise & Gold.

I am gonna be brief this month, its late I think I'll let the music do the talking.
Its a Funk heavy selection with plenty of classic Hip Hop references and a few new something somethings thrown in for good measure.

2. Lilo Thomas has been a bit of a revelation to me this month, this beat like a brand new boy-racer wont stop doing donuts in my mind. Its the part that sounds like a car screeching round a tight corner. tight? yes.
8. Dilla done did it again. This cover of the the classic 80's tune by Man Without Hats has a little more Bass and a little less vocal, I cant argue with the outcome.
12. A track from Sharon Jones's new album 'I Learned The Hard Way'. She manages to create a timeless sound over and over, thanks to a dedication to old skool recording techniques and the tightest big band around right now. Anything Daptone Records put out is a must for me.
16. A sensitive remix of a feel good classic. The second remix I've selected in a row by the guys from Toronto. I was out there last winter and enjoyed every minute, slippery after a few Pale Ales though...

Funk Yeah! Turquoise & Gold

1. Nantes (Fredo & Thang Disco Remix) - Beirut
2. Your love's got a hold on me - Lilo Thomas
3. Help the man - Georgie Red
4. Why you treat me so bad - Club Nouveau

6. Nu Jak Steppin - Cecil Homeboy Holden
7. Roses are red - Mac Band
8. Safety Dance - J Dilla

A Tape but not a Tape - Tap3 Dual MP3 Player

TAP3' is both an album and not an album, and will therefore be available as both a thing and a thing that is not a thing. You will be able to download the finished sounds to add to your play lists and you will be able to buy it as an innovative piece of product that looks as though it is a cassette - to celebrate the mysterious, practical type of physical formats that electronic music was once released on. 'TAP3' the physical thing you can hold in your hands and explore is a combination of romantic found object and specialised industrial product that took many months to conceive, design and manufacture. It appears to be something that might appear in a 23rd century museum of Earth's pop culture history that got it slightly wrong - /dadahack/ have created a personal history as though the cassette was invented after the iPod. Indeed the physical piece of /dadahack/ can be played as a cassette, although, as if it is a cousin once or twice removed of Dr.Who, and something he would have as part of his collection inside the Tardis, it also plays itself. It needs no machine for the 'TAP3' sounds to be heard - by pluging in headphones and utilizing it as a digital music player. 'TAP3' is a souvenir of a fading time when music was only finished when it appeared on an actual object, and an acceptance of a future where music is finished as soon as it is let go into the cloud above/below/all around us.

Midnight Sushi Club 04 - Shades in the Rain

This one goes out to all those who picked the short straw, rocking their 3D glasses on the way back to the off-licence on a drizzly Sunday morning.

It’s a fully International affair representing; Malawi, France, Norway, USA, Sweden, Jamaica, Russia, Canada and of course a few Londoners.

1. & 2. For starters A pair of Serious Dubs, literally.

The Digi Dub mix of the Hempolics ‘Serious’ a future classic from a single package which also includes a Rack N Ruin Dubstep version, set to come out on Reggae Roast Records this month.

6. For namesake this one’s a no-brainer, a classic from 1995 I have to admit I slept on. Respect Maxamillion for the heads up.

9. I can’t get enough of this little lady this month. Head straight for her ‘Get Loose’ album, stomp to the heavy future Hip-Hop Bass-lines contort your drunken face to her silky smooth vocals and do what she tells you.

11. To me this gem from 1986 has Joker’s Dubstep Purple Sound written all over it. I love listening to old songs written about the future.

18. Musically the kids in Norway are smashing it right now. I reckon its so cold and boring there’s nothing else to do but form an electro band and practice a lot. I could be wrong.
